QuickBooks
2006 Release 7 (R7) for Windows - All Editions
This release applies to all
Windows versions of QuickBooks 2006. R7 is available for manual
download, with the Auto Update available in July. A limited
number of internal test cases encountered an error "Unable to Apply Patch", sometimes
with the error codes 1612 or 1603. Intuit's Knowledge
Base has an article at www.quickbooks.com/support/faqs/qb2006/5b7ebb61.html
to resolve the problem. R7 includes all updates thus far on 2006
software. There are a large number of
error corrections in R7. In this article are some of the highlights I found
important.
The Rebuild now repairs damage to broken links in
company files that are missing a sibling record.
QuickBooks now launches the
Windows XP CD burning Wizard when backing up the company data to a
CD.
In lists, QuickBooks no longer
exits unexpectedly when adding a new name to company files with specific
data damage, and also incorporates a code that fixes this specific data
damage.
QuickBooks will no longer
close with the error code 16384 27882 when recording register
transactions, when prompted to "save transaction" before
closing a company file.
QuickBooks now sorts
Reconciliation Detail reports by date.
These are only a few of the
corrections. See a full list at http://www.quickbooks.com/support/faqs/docs/w_15r7notes.html.

Sunset Rule
Intuit
supports three versions of software the current version and two prior
versions, which brings me to the 2003 QuickBooks Users. As of
April 30, 2006, Intuit no longer supports payroll services, credit card
processing and other services related to 2003 and prior versions.
Upgrades are fairly painless, and run about $170.00 for Pro 2006
software.
Please contact me to take advantage of my ProAdvisor discount on the
software. I will continue to train users on QuickBooks 2003 and
older. Mid-Year
Financial Review July
is a good time to have your financial statements reviewed by a CPA to
see how you are doing mid-year. You may need to take action for
tax planning. It also gives you the opportunity to get your books
up to date which will put you in a better position for year end. I
can help with the bookkeeping in QuickBooks. For accounting
services please call Folisi, Samz, and Co. at 847-843-8770 for assistance.
